How to send cues

Post by Djcheshire »

Hello all, super new to Madrix. I have a client that has tasked me with learning Madrix and setting up a "simple" configuration for them. I only have 1 led strip to test and got it working through artnet, but the some of the requirements I haven't quite figured out how to do.

The client is asking for this: There are 14 different pieces, each has 4 separate led strips that go around a led screen. Out of the 14 pieces, there needs to be 4 different "Looks" running in its native state. So piece 1-4 are all green and sparkling, piece 5-7 are red and breathing, 8-11 are blue and chasing, and 12-14 are all white and random. Additionally when a certain dmx signal comes in, all of the 14 pieces change to 1 look for a timed duration and then go back to the native state.

I've programed in midi so far (eventually it will be dmx control) to setup the trigger for 7 seconds, but am not sure how to separate the different looks via cues (or a patch) and then have them all come back properly.

Hi Djcheshire,

Welcome to the MADRIX Forum!

You will need to make use of the so-called "Fixture Groups" feature and "Map" settings of the used effect Layer. Fixture groups allow you to organize fixtures that are included in your Patch in clusters and then to control them together as a group. Those Fixture Groups can be used as a preset for the Map Settings of a Layer. That means you can assign effects to different parts of your LED installation.

Here you can learn how to create Fixture Groups:

Here you can learn how to use the Fixture Groups as a Map preset:

I hope this helps you!
