Welcome to the MADRIX forum.
Both options are possible. You can receive SMPTE time code with MADRIX or trigger MADRIX with the Hog 3.
To receive the SMPTE time code in MADRIX you will need the MADRIX SMPTE interface. Under the following link you can find some more information about the SMPTE interface:

When you want to control remotely with the Hog, you will have several options to control it. You can use DMX Input, Art-Net Input or sACN Input in MADRIX.
