HD108 Addressing Issue

Post by MrGravy »

Hello! I need some advice on addressing this strip properly.

I am running an HD108 strip through a LeDMX Max. The strip has 80 pixels. Got it hooked up but only the first 40 pixels were displaying.

I remembered HD108s having a gray channel, so thinking they require 6 channels per pixel, I added a 3 channel offset to see if I could just skip those. It sorta worked. All the pixels displayed, but I lost the blue channel? So now I am a bit confused. Any pointers?

Let me know if you need more information!

Thanks.

Hi MrGravy,

Welcome to the MADRIX Forum!

I'm not sure how the 3rd party interface handles HD108. With the MADRIX NEBULA we implemented a 8 Bit and 16 Bit variant of the protocol. The 8 Bit one is using 3 channels and the 16 Bit one 6 channels per pixel and there is no need to set an offset. In MADRIX 5 you can simply use the "!generic RGB Light 1 pixel" fixtures.

You can test each channel the following way:
1) Connect your interface and the LEDs.
2) Launch MADRIX 5, discover the interface. Enable all ports.
3) Navigate to "Tools" > "DMX Fader Tool". You now have the possibilty to send data on the set universe and channel.

This would allow you to figure out what each of the channels does. The Fader Tool overwrites the "normal" output, make sure to deactivate it after testing the channels. I recommend to also contact the manufacturer of the interface.
